On Monday, I participated in a one-day conference in Stockholm hosted by the Swedish Rescue Services Agency. The focus of this conference was to provide a meeting place between researchers and practitioners willing to take part of the results from research projects funded by the agency.
My research group presented results from our project “Evaluation the benefits of IT-use in operative emergency response work”.
In another project, a team from SP, presented results indicating that it might be better for the environment not to focus on suppressing a fire at all, due to the exposing of dangerous substances in incomplete burning processes. In yet another project, the national weather agency presented models for producing prognosis in case of flooding.
This conference was a very valuable, small scale and positive meeting point between researchers and practitioners.
