CNN reports live with several field reports on the Hurricane Gustav

CNN and I would bet all major television networks are sending continuously and live on the events in New Orleans and the rest of the region. As always viewers can contribute to this live reporting by adding their own stories. Check out the (Your Voice)-button in the videoplayer. This is a very neat and easy way of connecting with their audience. However, people that have perhaps the most heartbreaking and perhaps also most important stories are probably quite some distance to a working internet connection.

One could speculate how emergency response organizations could use similar simple mechanisms to interconnect with the local community. Should they even have a collaboration with media services in order to get a rich feed of community generated information that could provide input in the systems to establish a common operating picture and improve the situation awareness.
