This is a very neat and easy way of connecting with their audience. However, people that have perhaps the most heartbreaking and perhaps also most important stories are probably quite some distance to a working internet connection.
One could speculate how emergency response organizations could use similar simple mechanisms to interconnect with the local community. Should they even have a collaboration with media services in order to get a rich feed of community generated information that could provide input in the systems to establish a common operating picture and improve the situation awareness.
