Today, we had a great session where Jonny and Philip ran a short explorative study on hybrid cycling. The platform in focus was the ever so popular Zwift, which has now pioneered the hybrid of digital-physical sports. Philip was the test-biker in this session. Jonny took the role as observer and collected lots of interesting insights.
An important aspect seems to be the real-time and direct connection that creates a strong sense of traditional cycling. Lots of attention was also drawn towards all the different metrics presented as well as the cues embedded in the race experience. From a persuasive computing perspective the cue “Close the gap” and how that type of mechanics affect the attitude of the cyclist.
