Navigation support for Incident Commanders

The ongoing efforts of making rescue services in Sweden more effective and flexible has lead to implementation of IT in the vehicles of incident commanders. Several rescue services in Sweden have developed a three-tier field command structure, with “Incident chief”, “Incident commander”, “Fire Crew Commander”. The “mid-level” incident commander is working across several districts and is dispatched to incidents where two or more fire crew units have been dispatched. Navigational systems have now become common to provide navigational support for incidents commanders enroute an incident.
