The swedish defence/aviation/security group SAAB (not the car brand owned by GM) has developed what they call WCU : Wearable command unit. According to the information on the corporate website: “WCU/LUPP is a distributed interactive Command and Control system that allows exchange of information between units in the field and between field units and control-centre staff.”
Field units have access to the system using rugged tabletpc´s. The system was initailly developed as a demonstrator but has now been further developed into a what seems a commercially available system.
The WCU uses the Swedish Rescue Agency´s LUPP system for monitoring incident response work. It is interesting to see how early prototypes or demonstrators develops into more mature systems.
