  1. We are responsible for the management of the 10th International Disaster & Emergency Resilience (IDER) conference to be held this year on Tuesday 20th and Wednesday 21st October 2009 at the Värmlands Museum, Karlstad, Sweden. Previous IDERs have been held in Rome and London. Please take a moment to consider the benefits of the 10th IDER which will be held at Karlstad in Sweden on the 20-21 October 2009. A wide cross-section of the global disaster risk reduction community, ministers, UN agencies, EC representatives and EU planners, responders and emergency services, NGOs, scientific and technical experts, and others will be attending this conference. I would delighted if your organization would consider taking part either as delegate. The 10th IDER (International Disaster & Emergency Resilience conference) is being hosted by MSB (Myndigheten för samhällskydd och beredskap – the new Swedish Civil Contingencies Agency) and will take place on Tuesday 20th and Wednesday 21st October 2009 at the Värmlands Museum, Karlstad, Sweden. IDER is supported by the European Commission, MSB, International Association of Emergency Managers (IAEM), Institute of Civil Protection and Emergency Management (ICPEM – a recent merger of the Institute of Civil Defence and Disaster Studies and the Institute of Emergency Management) and the European Training & Simulation Association (ETSA) – Sweden has the Presidency of the European Union. IDER is the conference and exhibition where best practice for readiness, response and recovery for disasters and major emergencies are identified and implemented.Updates will be shown at our website: http://www.iderweb.org
